NOTICE: Due to the high demand for RES examination seats, course participants who have completed the RES course may not get a seat at the RES examination.

The Real Estate Salesperson (RES) Course is a mandatory preparatory course that all aspiring salespersons must fulfill before taking the CEA approved RES Exams. In order to register to be a full-fledged salesperson with an estate agency of their choice, one must pass the RES Examination.

Registration Criteria

Applicant must be:

  1. Singaporean / Permanent Resident
  2. At least 21 years old
  3. Have 1 of the following Local Academic Qualifications:
    1. GCE ‘O’ / ‘A’ level with 4 subjects passed (C6 & above). Or combined GCE ‘O’ level results taken at not more than 2 sittings.
    2. Higher NITEC Certificate [Industrial Technician Certificate (ITC), Certificate in Business Studies (CBS), Master NITEC, National Technical Certificate 1 (NTC1)]
    3. Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) with all 5 modules level 5 and above,
    4. Diploma(s) from local Polytechnic only (NYP/NP/RP/SP/TP)
    5. Degree(s) from local Universities only (NTU/NUS/SMU/SUSS/SUTD
    6. For Foreign and Private Certificates: Foreign/Private Certificate together with an Approved CEA Qualification Verification Letter*

Applicants with Overseas or Local Private Academic Qualifications that require CEA’s Qualification Assessment, with effect from 06 Aug 2021, please submit your CEA’s Qualification Assessment to CEA via email to licensing@cea.gov.sg.

[Notice 01-23] REVISION OF REAL ESTATE SALESPERSON (RES) EXAMINATION FORMAT

The Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) has conducted a review of the existing RES examination format. The review aimed to ensure that the RES examination format remains relevant to test candidates’ knowledge, understanding and ability to interpret and analyse the questions in a practice-oriented context.

With effect from the March 2023 RES examination, the new format for Paper 1 and Paper 2 will comprise 80 multiple choice questions (MCQs) in two sections. There will be no section with short answer questions. The revised RES examination format will take effect from the RES examination to be held on 25 and 26 March 2023.

Can I register for the RES exam and take the RES course at the same time?

No, you will need to complete the RES Course before you can register for the RES exam. You may visit NTUC Learning Hub website for more details on the RES examination schedule & registration: https://res.ntuclearninghub.com

Do I have to apply for NTUC membership before registering for the RES course to qualify for NTUC UTAP funding?

Yes. But you may apply for the NTUC membership together with the RES application. Call us or approach our staff for more details.

Does passing the RES exam qualify me to be a Real Estate Salesperson?

Please be informed that attending the RES Course and passing the RES Examination do not automatically qualify an individual to be a real estate salesperson.

The applicant has to fulfill the licensing requirements stipulated by CEA, this includes meeting the fit & proper criteria. Please check the complete list of licensing criteria on CEA’s website.

Does the course fee covers the examination fee?

No. The examination fee is $417.30 (inclusive of GST). It is to be paid to the respective exam provider (NTUC Learning Hub).

How do I go about applying for the CEA assessment?

Applicants with Overseas or Local Private Academic Qualifications that require CEA’s Qualification Assessment, with effect from 06 Aug 2021, please submit your CEA’s Qualification Assessment to CEA via email to licensing@cea.gov.sg.

Applicants are required to attach the following documents in their application.

  1. Their academic certificate transcript, graduation certificate, and supporting documents.
  2. The CEA educational qualification assessment request form.

How long does it take for CEA to process the assessment?

CEA assessment processing duration will take approximately 15 working days.

How much is the RES course fee?

It is (inclusive of GST) and is both SkillsFuture and NTUC UTAP claimable.

I am a Diploma / Degree holder, but my qualification certificate is from a local private school (SIM / Kaplan / NAFA etc.), am I qualified to apply for the course?

No. Your qualification certificate(s) are required for submission to CEA for an educational qualification assessment. You are able to sign up for the course once you’ve received the approval email from CEA.

I am holding a Foreign Diploma / Degree certificate, am I qualified to apply for the RES course?

No. Your qualification certificate(s) are required for submission to CEA for an educational qualification assessment. You are able to sign up for the course once you’ve received the approval email from CEA.

What is RES course?

RES stands for Real Estate Salesperson course. This is the fundamental course that all aspiring Salesperson must go through before they can sit for the RES examinations. Salesperson must pass the RES examinations before applying as a licensed Real Estate Salesperson.

What is the minimum required attendance to get the Certificate of Completion for the RES course?

You will have to have at least 75% attendance in order to be qualified for the Certificate of Completion on the last day of your course. Please ensure that you sign IN and OUT of every lesson for your attendance to be tracked.

Express & Weekend – 2 lessons/day; Evening – 1 lesson/day.

What is the requirement for me to be eligible to take up the RES course?

  • a. You have to be at least 21 years old
  • b. Singaporean or PRs
  • c. Education Qualification of:
    • i.   a minimum GCE ‘O’ level with 4 subjects passed or;
    • ii.  Higher NITEC or;
    • iv. Diploma / Degree from local autonomous Polytechnic / University or;
    • v.  Foreign or Private certification with approved CEA assessment result
    • vi. WPLN with all 5 modules level 5 and above
